A Private AI Twin or a Public Chatbot?
Why leadership teams with sensitive knowledge are moving to private models
Public chatbots are excellent general tools, but they do not know your business and they sit outside your control. A private AI Twin learns your documents, decisions and policies, runs on infrastructure you own, and keeps that knowledge inside the company. The choice depends on how sensitive and how specific your knowledge is.

Half my managers already use public chatbots every day. Why would I pay for a private AI Twin when the public tools are cheap and getting better every month?
AI Leadership Agent — Strategic Advisory
Because the question is not how clever the model is. It is what the model knows and where that knowledge goes. Public tools know the internet. They do not know your supplier terms, your pricing logic or why your board rejected the last expansion plan.
A general model gives you general answers. The value sits in the knowledge only your company has, and that is exactly the knowledge you should not be pasting into someone else’s system.
Three tests help decide:
- Sensitivity: would you be comfortable if a given document left the building? If not, it should not go into a public tool.
- Specificity: do the useful answers depend on your own history, contracts and processes? Public tools cannot supply that.
- Continuity: when a senior person leaves, does their judgement leave with them? A Twin keeps it.

So do I ban the public tools?
AI Leadership Agent — Strategic Advisory
No. Bans push usage underground. Keep public tools for drafting and general research, with a clear policy on what may never be shared, and put the sensitive, company-specific work on the private Twin. Most organisations end up running both, with clear rules about which is used for what.
The aim is not to replace curiosity. It is to give your people a safer place to be curious with the information that matters most.
